Securonix has appointed Toby Weiss as Chief Executive Officer, putting a veteran cybersecurity and enterprise software executive at the head of the security operations company.

Weiss takes over as companies in regulated sectors and managed security service providers face rising pressure to improve threat detection and response while controlling costs and staffing demands.

He will lead Securonix through its next phase, with a focus on expanding its security operations platform and increasing the use of artificial intelligence in investigation and response workflows.

Securonix sells security information and event management software, or SIEM, which organisations use to gather and analyse security data. Customers are seeking stronger analytics, broader visibility across data sources and more efficient security operations centre workflows.

Weiss brings more than 30 years of experience in enterprise software and cybersecurity. Most recently, he was Chief Executive Officer of Fiery, where he led growth, operational expansion and its acquisition by Seiko Epson Corporation.

Earlier in his career, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Application Security and held senior executive roles at CA Technologies, where he led global security software businesses serving large enterprise customers.

Nadeem Syed, Executive Chairman of the Securonix Board and Senior Managing Director at Vista Equity Partners, said Weiss combines cybersecurity expertise, enterprise software leadership and operational excellence.

"Security operations are at an inflection point as organizations move from alert-driven tools toward AI-powered execution," Syed said. "Toby has spent his career scaling businesses through pivotal technology transitions, and we are confident in his ability to lead Securonix forward."

Market pressure

The appointment comes as security teams contend with heavier alert volumes, more complex attacks, tighter compliance requirements and continued shortages of skilled personnel. Those pressures have increased demand for tools that reduce manual work and help analysts focus on the most serious threats.

Securonix said its platform combines analytics, data management and AI-based tools. It highlighted Data Pipeline Manager, which it said can cut SIEM data costs by 30% to 50%, as well as AI features including Sam, the AI SOC Analyst, and Agentic Mesh.

According to the company, those AI tools are designed to automate repetitive tasks and speed up investigations while keeping human oversight in place. The technology can reduce investigation times by 50% to 80%, it said.

Weiss described the shift in customer priorities as a move away from measuring success by the number of alerts reviewed.

"Security operations are entering a new era where success will be measured not by how many alerts analysts review, but by how much security work organizations can execute," Weiss said.

"Our customers want three things: better security outcomes, greater operational efficiency, and the ability to scale without proportionally increasing costs. Securonix is uniquely positioned to deliver on those priorities. Our advanced analytics help organizations identify the threats that matter most. Our Data Pipeline Manager gives customers greater control over security data economics and visibility. Our Agentic AI innovations help automate and accelerate investigation and response workflows while maintaining governance and human oversight. Together, these capabilities enable organizations to operate more effectively today while preparing for the future of AI-powered security operations."

Growth plans

Weiss will oversee continued development of the Unified Defence SIEM platform, including efforts to improve detection through analytics, extend visibility across security data and raise productivity for analysts and security operations teams.

Marion Smith, Chief Financial Officer at Securonix, linked the leadership change to the company's growth ambitions and customer retention efforts.

"Customers are looking for measurable security outcomes despite growing operational complexity," Smith said.

"They want to improve analyst productivity, accelerate investigations, strengthen security posture, and maximize the value of their security investments. Toby understands how to connect innovation with customer success and business results. His leadership will help accelerate growth, deepen customer partnerships, and continue delivering the operational outcomes security teams need."

Securonix has positioned itself around sectors such as healthcare, financial services, energy and government, where compliance demands and the consequences of security failures are often more severe. The company also works with managed security service providers that run security operations on behalf of clients.

The leadership change places a new Chief Executive Officer at the centre of that strategy as Securonix seeks to expand its customer base and deepen its role in day-to-day security operations for enterprises and service providers.
