Reco named OpenAI Select Partner amid AI security concerns

Reco has been named an OpenAI Select Partner, placing it within OpenAI's partner network for organisations building and delivering AI systems.

The appointment reflects a growing security concern for large companies as AI agents spread across workplace software and collaboration tools. Reco will work with enterprises using OpenAI systems to identify and manage risks linked to agents that can access systems, use identities, inherit permissions and act across business applications.

Security teams are under pressure to track a new class of software actors that does not fit neatly within conventional governance processes. AI agents can connect to applications, use OAuth grants and API keys, access sensitive information, trigger workflows, update records and carry out autonomous or semi-autonomous actions.

That creates a governance problem that extends beyond the model itself. Companies need to know what an agent can reach, what it is allowed to do, who owns it, how it behaves and which business processes it can affect.

Reco's platform is designed to discover agents, applications and identities across enterprise environments, then rank risks and support remediation. It links data on agent identity, permissions, activity, ownership, connectivity and business process impact so security teams can assess where exposure may spread.

According to the company, the platform can also reduce permission scope, revoke stale access, disable unauthorised agents, assign findings to owners and route remediation through existing security and ticketing workflows.

Enterprise focus

The OpenAI partner network is a global programme for partners that build, sell and deliver AI systems with OpenAI. For Reco, the designation formally recognises a business pitch that combines AI adoption with oversight of the wider software environment in which agents operate.

The company is targeting a segment of the market where the challenge is less about building a chatbot and more about controlling what connected agents can do once embedded in everyday enterprise tools. As businesses move from limited AI pilots to broader agent-based workflows, oversight of permissions, identities and workflows becomes more important.

Reco argues that one of the main risks is reduced visibility for security teams. Agents may be adopted by business units through existing applications without central approval, creating what the company describes as shadow AI exposure outside normal governance structures.

That concern is gaining prominence across the cybersecurity sector as AI features are added directly to software already used by employees. In that model, adoption can rise quickly because the tools are familiar, but the security implications may not be fully mapped when agents begin handling records, workflows and access rights.

Reco says it is already deployed in large enterprise settings. According to the company, the platform is used by Fortune 500 companies, supports more than 260 application integrations, includes 1,000 detection controls and can be deployed in 48 hours.

Growing category

Reco positions itself in what it calls agent ecosystem security, a category focused on the interaction between applications, identities, permissions and workflows. The company's argument is that risk no longer sits only at the edge of a network or within a single application, but in the links between systems that an AI agent can navigate.

That framing reflects a broader shift in enterprise security. Instead of monitoring only employee accounts and software configurations, security teams increasingly need tools that can map machine-driven actions across multiple business systems and identify when inherited permissions or stale access create openings for misuse or error.

Reco says its platform is built on what it calls the Reco Graph, which connects information on agents and related systems. It also says it can add integrations in hours through its Reco Factory and uses a Reco Library for pre-built intelligence on agents and applications.

Ofer Klein, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Reco, outlined the company's view of the market shift. "Enterprises are moving quickly from AI experimentation to agentic workflows that can access systems, use identities, inherit permissions, and take action across business applications," said Klein.

He said the OpenAI relationship is intended to help customers address that shift as they adopt agent-based systems. "As an OpenAI Select Partner, Reco provides customers the visibility, context and control they need to secure their OpenAI agent ecosystem, while allowing them to move faster with AI," said Klein.
