CyTwist has announced the launch of a patented detection engine designed to uncover AI-generated cyberattacks within minutes.
The detection engine was validated through a red team simulation with a telecoms provider, mirroring an attack on French government agencies and private companies last September. The simulation demonstrated that CyTwist's engine could identify and detect the presence of AI-generated malware swiftly, offering a reliable solution to counter sophisticated attacks.
AI-generated malware, which uses techniques such as advanced encryption, often eludes conventional security measures. CyTwist's new tool analyses suspicious code behaviors to effectively counter these evasion tactics, providing a significant advancement in threat detection.
Eran Orzel, Chief Executive Officer at CyTwist, stated, "The use of AI in cyberattacks is reshaping the threat landscape, enabling attackers to operate elusively and at speed, capable of gliding past traditional security solutions that rely on signatures and rules. This is where CyTwist can make a real difference."
He further elaborated, "Our patented detection engine is specifically engineered to address these challenges, as demonstrated by the results of our red team simulation where we successfully intercepted AI-generated malware that evaded the EDR solution entirely. With the proliferation of AI, there is a lower threshold to create highly effective cyberattacks, and therefore an urgent need for technology like ours to provide a powerful counter."
The increasing sophistication of AI-driven cyberattacks is a growing concern for cyber defenses globally. According to CyTwist's research, 89% of IT security teams expect AI-augmented cyber threats will significantly impact their organisations within the next two years.
The detection engine by CyTwist is designed to operate independently of existing agent-based systems and seamlessly integrates with current EDRs and SIEMs. This capability allows it to identify and neutralise new types of malware without the need for scanning files, a factor that sets it apart from traditional security tools.
A representative from the telecom operator involved in the test remarked, "We were impressed by CyTwist's capability of detecting a sophisticated, AI-generated malware that our EDR had failed to pick up. CyTwist provided the critical insights we needed to detect the attack in time, adding a valuable security layer against AI-generated threats and highlighting the necessity for its technology in a market lacking in similar solutions."
Cybercriminals continue to invest in AI to enhance their attack strategies, leading to an escalation in the complexity and success rate of their incursions. This trend has contributed to an annual increase in the global cost of cyberattacks by 15%, as organisations struggle to keep pace with the rapidly evolving threat landscape.
By targeting unknown threats through behavioural profiling of attackers and utilising innovative probability algorithms, CyTwist's detection engine aims to provide a robust defence against AI-generated attacks. The engine is specifically crafted to identify unusual code structures and atypical progression, enabling early intervention in the attack cycle.
