BeyondTrust unveils AI-driven Pathfinder identity platform

Today

BeyondTrust has introduced Pathfinder, an AI-driven identity security platform designed to streamline and enhance organisational identity security measures.

The Pathfinder platform consolidates various identity security measures into a singular, cohesive interface. The need for such a solution arises from the increasing complexity and interconnection of identity systems, which have rendered traditional security methods insufficient for most organisations. The new platform aims to offer adaptive, risk-aware protection by continuously assessing and managing identity security risks across diverse environments.

Current statistics indicate that identity remains a primary vulnerability for security breaches, with 90% of organisations reporting identity-related incidents over the last year. These breaches typically exploit the identity systems that facilitate modern work environments.

Privileged access management (PAM) plays a critical role in securing identities by mitigating risks through the reduction of unnecessary privileges. Pathfinder extends the principles of PAM by integrating AI-driven threat detection to identify and address identity security blind spots comprehensively. This approach aims to reduce the attack surface and uphold the principle of least privilege.

Pathfinder draws its capabilities from BeyondTrust's established technologies, promising enhanced risk reduction and efficient remediation of identity-based vulnerabilities. Included in its features are the True Privilege Graph and Continuous Risk Assessment functionality, which map out every identity and privilege escalation path. This mapping extends across various environments, providing a dynamic perspective that static, role-based models may not offer. By exposing hidden attack vectors, organisations can evaluate security risks with greater accuracy and take preemptive action.

Additionally, the Pathfinder platform is designed to make advanced identity security accessible to organisations of all sizes. While some previous solutions catered to larger companies with specialist teams, the platform's AI capabilities allow for streamlined detection and remediation processes. These features aim to reduce identity risks by addressing excessive privileges and misconfigurations before they are exploited.

The platform also introduces Adaptive Just-in-Time (JIT) Access, a method focused on removing unnecessary privileges and granting access only as needed. By leveraging identity risk context, Pathfinder applies these controls across the entirety of an organisation's identity systems rather than just select environments. This comprehensive application is key to combating entitlement sprawl and eliminating persistent privileges.

Marc Maiffret, Chief Technology Officer at BeyondTrust, highlighted the company's aim, stating, "Our mission is to put exceptional identity-first security within reach of any organisation, enabling resilience in the face of sophisticated attacks. BeyondTrust's Pathfinder platform sets a new standard for delivering identity security defense-in-depth cohesively across an organisation's domains. Our AI-powered platform provides an integrated set of powerful tools for holistic identity visibility, just-in-time access, threat prevention, and detection, so customers can neutralise identity threats before they escalate."
