Tech Mahindra & Rubrik launch AI cyber recovery service
Tech Mahindra and Rubrik have launched a joint Cyber Recovery as a Service offering designed to speed the restoration of systems and data after cyber incidents.
The companies positioned the service as a response to the operational challenges that follow ransomware and other attacks. While detection times have improved across many organisations, full recovery and validation of trusted data can still take days or weeks.
Recovery focus
The service combines Tech Mahindra's managed cybersecurity services with Rubrik's data security platform. It automates parts of recovery and verifies clean data before systems are brought back online.
Aimed at enterprises running hybrid and multi-cloud environments, it offers a single cyber-recovery framework, covering data integrity checks and the restoration of operations.
Rubrik's platform focuses on securing and recovering data from cyber threats and operational disruptions. Tech Mahindra provides consulting and managed IT and security services, which will be used to deliver and operate the joint offering.
Both firms described the product as "AI-powered", linking that to faster recovery, cleaner restoration, and less downtime after an incident. The announcement did not include customer names, commercial terms, or deployment details.
Ransomware pressures
Ransomware remains a major driver of investment in cybersecurity operations, but post-incident recovery is a separate discipline with its own constraints. Organisations often need to rebuild systems, restore data, and confirm recovered information has not been altered. They must also decide which applications to bring back online first and how to reduce the risk of re-infection.
The companies said the joint service is intended to close the gap between detection and full operational recovery, arguing that many organisations struggle to restore with confidence after an attack, increasing downtime and disruption.
Saket Singh, Business Head - Cloud, Infrastructure, Network and Security Services at Tech Mahindra, highlighted the challenge of trusted restoration after ransomware incidents.
"Enterprises today are investing heavily in cyber detection capabilities, yet a critical gap remains: the ability to rapidly recover clean, uncompromised data after ransomware attacks. Many organizations struggle to restore operations with confidence, leading to prolonged downtime and business disruption. By combining Rubrik's AI-driven and data resilience capabilities with Tech Mahindra's end-to-end cyber security capabilities, we are enabling organizations to recover with certainty, reduce downtime, and protect business continuity in an increasingly hostile digital environment," said Saket Singh, Business Head - Cloud, Infrastructure, Network and Security Services, Tech Mahindra.
Market positioning
Tech Mahindra said the partnership strengthens its cyber-resilience work and increases visibility for its cybersecurity services, while opening new go-to-market opportunities and supporting pipeline growth.
Rubrik, which sells data security and recovery software, has increased its focus on cyber resilience in recent years. In the announcement, it also pointed to identity-based threats alongside ransomware as drivers of business risk.
Alok Agrawal, Chief Solutions Officer at Rubrik, described cyber resilience as an operational differentiator for organisations dealing with frequent attacks.
"The escalating frequency of identity-based threats and ransomware attacks has made it clear: cyber resilience is now the ultimate differentiator between business catastrophe and business continuity. We are proud to launch this CRaaS offering alongside Tech Mahindra to empower global organizations with streamlined recovery and business continuity," said Agrawal.
The companies said the combined service provides scalable protection across hybrid and multi-cloud settings, including assured data integrity checks and a unified recovery approach to support business continuity during ransomware incidents.
Rubrik said it has more than 6,600 customers globally and has been named a Leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup and Recovery Software Solutions for two consecutive years. Tech Mahindra said it has more than 149,000 professionals across more than 90 countries and serves more than 1,100 clients.
The companies said they will deliver the joint CRaaS offering to global enterprises as demand grows for cyber recovery services that complement detection and response programmes.
