Kiteworks unveils Private Data Network for data security

Today

Kiteworks has launched its Private Data Network (PDN), aiming to address security and compliance challenges by unifying sensitive data exchanges.

The platform is designed to manage security risks in the exchange of sensitive data across various digital channels, which typically include email, file sharing services, file transfers, and web forms. Addressing the unique vulnerabilities and governance challenges posed by these channels is becoming increasingly crucial for organisations.

A significant number of organisations are required to comply with multiple security frameworks, which can often lead to breaches during third-party interactions, so maintaining comprehensive and proactive protection is vital.

Tim Freestone, Chief Marketing Officer at Kiteworks, explained, "Kiteworks Private Data Network represents our strategic evolution from a Private Content Network (PCN), specifically addressing today's heightened security and compliance demands. Our platform provides centralised governance, automated compliance management, and robust security covering both inbound and outbound sensitive data flows, closing dangerous security gaps and operational vulnerabilities."

The core capabilities of the Kiteworks PDN include an advanced policy engine that implements role-based and attribute-based access control aligned with standards such as NIST CSF, GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, PCI DSS, and CMMC. It also offers bidirectional data protection with email protection gateways, secure file sharing, and secure web forms to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

The platform provides immutable audit logs and compliance reporting to support incident detection, investigation, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, centralised metadata management and data lineage tracking facilitate oversight and governance.

Kiteworks PDN operates on a zero-trust architecture with multiple security layers, including security development practices, perimeter protection features, and double data encryption at rest, which enhance protection against potential threats. The platform also integrates real-time monitoring, automated incident response, and risk analytics to manage threats preemptively.

Expansion suites offer further capabilities. The Integration Suite provides connectivity via SFTP servers, APIs, and SCIM support to enhance workflow automation while ensuring security. The Sovereign Access Suite enables remote access to internal repositories, allowing external editing capabilities without data exfiltration risks. Meanwhile, the Managed File Transfer Suite automates file transfer workflows with a scalable architecture designed for enterprise use.

Yaron Galant, Chief Product Officer at Kiteworks, highlighted the platform's efficiency, stating, "By eliminating security silos and automating compliance, Kiteworks Private Data Network reduces administrative overhead and accelerates secure, frictionless collaboration with internal teams, external partners, contractors, and investors. Our assume-breach architecture, integrated managed detection and response (MDR) capabilities, and zero-trust framework ensure businesses are not only secure but prepared for rapid incident response."

The platform's design facilitates straightforward onboarding processes while maintaining governance standards, enabling organisations to scale secure collaborations without increasing administrative workload. Its automated self-service features support secure business expansions.
