Check Point tops Miercom hybrid mesh security benchmark

Wed, 22nd Apr 2026 (Yesterday)

Check Point ranked first in Miercom's 2026 Hybrid Mesh Network Security Benchmark report, with an overall security effectiveness score of 99.8%.

Miercom compared vendors across on-premises, cloud and Firewall-as-a-Service deployments, using live malware samples and phishing URLs to measure end-to-end security performance. According to Check Point, this is its fourth consecutive year leading the benchmark.

The report found that Check Point detected 100% of malicious phishing URLs and blocked 99.9% of AI-powered malware. It also recorded the lowest vulnerability and risk exposure among the vendors assessed, with up to 97% fewer reported Known Exploited Vulnerabilities than leading rivals.

These findings come as security providers face a rise in faster, more varied attacks. Check Point cited US federal law enforcement data showing that more than 60 new ransomware variants were identified in 2025 alone, underscoring the pace at which defenders are expected to respond.

Test results

Miercom said the benchmark examined security effectiveness, product integrity, vulnerability exposure and user experience across a hybrid mesh architecture. The scoring highlighted Check Point's phishing detection, malware prevention and operational performance under load.

Check Point's malware prevention score was 36% higher than competing vendors in the benchmark. The testing also focused on threats in the first 24 hours of a malware or phishing campaign, when newer attacks can evade older signature-based tools.

According to the published findings, Check Point maintained network speed and file download performance while blocking threats. That is significant in hybrid environments, where security teams often balance inspection depth against user access and latency.

Executive reaction

Nataly Kremer, Chief Product Officer at Check Point, commented on the result.

"As AI increases the speed of attacks, the ability to stop them early and consistently becomes critical," said Kremer. "Miercom's 2026 results reinforce Check Point's leadership in delivering prevention-first security at scale."

Rob Smithers, Chief Executive Officer of Miercom, also addressed the findings.

"Check Point earned the Miercom Certified Secure certification by delivering consistently strong results across key security and performance metrics," said Smithers. "Our evaluation confirmed Check Point's leadership in security effectiveness, product integrity and vulnerability exposure, providing comprehensive protection across the hybrid mesh architecture and aligning with enterprise requirements."

Wider context

Hybrid mesh network security has become a greater focus as companies distribute applications and users across data centres, public cloud services and remote access platforms. That shift has led buyers to compare vendors not only on detection rates, but also on how consistently products perform across different environments.

Check Point says it protects more than 100,000 organisations worldwide. Its business spans hybrid networks, multi-cloud systems, digital workspaces and AI-related security, placing it in direct competition with a broad group of cyber security providers serving large enterprises and government customers.

The benchmark result gives the company an independent test outcome it can use in a market where third-party validation carries weight with procurement teams. The figures published by Miercom place particular emphasis on early-stage phishing and malware prevention, where the report says Check Point scored highest among the vendors tested.

The certification attached to the assessment adds another point of comparison for buyers reviewing security tools for mixed on-premises and cloud estates. Miercom said its evaluation confirmed Check Point's standing in security effectiveness, product integrity and vulnerability exposure.
