Check Point to open first Asia-Pacific R&D centre in India
Check Point Software has announced its intention to establish its first Asia-Pacific Research and Development Centre in Bengaluru, India.
Ruma Balasubramanian, President of APAC & Japan at Check Point Software Technologies, remarked on the importance of this new development, saying, "India is a global technology powerhouse, and our new R&D Centre in Bengaluru reflects our deep commitment to harnessing top-tier cyber security talent from the region. With this investment, we are not only expanding our footprint but also laying the foundation for cutting-edge security innovations that will benefit customers worldwide. This initiative also reinforces the country's role as a key player in global cyber security and digital innovation."
The Bengaluru R&D Centre is set to focus on developing Check Point's core product lines, such as Check Point Quantum, which offers enterprise-level network security. Additionally, there will be a significant focus on Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), a strategic area of growth for the company. The new site will play a crucial role in expanding Check Point's next-generation SASE network, enabling enterprise-scale growth and enhancing its existing mesh architecture with more than 80 global points of presence (PoPs). This infrastructure aims to boost Check Point's capability to deliver secure and high-performance connectivity for enterprises globally. The centre will work in conjunction with Check Point's main R&D hub in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The Bengaluru office, covering 42,700 square feet and inaugurated last year, is Check Point's second-largest global facility, following its headquarters in Tel Aviv. The proposed R&D Centre within this office is planned to initially accommodate over 100 engineers, with possibilities for expansion as business demands grow.
Nataly Kremer, Chief Product Officer at Check Point Software Technologies, highlighted the significance of this launch by stating, "The launch of our Bengaluru R&D Centre is a significant milestone in our global innovation strategy. As cyber threats grow more sophisticated, this team will play a pivotal role in developing next-generation security solutions, ensuring customers are protected with cutting-edge technology."
Leading the new initiative will be Rajeev Koripalli, who has been appointed as Vice President of Research & Development, India. Mr. Koripalli brings with him considerable experience within the tech industry, having successfully led large-scale R&D teams specialising in Networking, Security, Wireless, and Cloud technologies. He has previously held leadership roles at companies such as Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, and Nokia.
Upon becoming operational, the Bengaluru R&D Centre will be instrumental in AI-driven threat prevention, enhancing security management, and fostering the development of next-generation cyber defence mechanisms. The centre aims to boost local expertise and innovation, further contributing to economic growth while delivering high-quality security solutions to enterprises around the world.
