Tenable launches new features to streamline vulnerability management
Tenable has announced the release of its new Vulnerability Intelligence and Exposure Response features, aiming to enhance vulnerability management in IT and cloud environments. These tools aim to help organisations prioritise and address the most significant security threats they face.
The newly introduced features are included in Tenable's suite of products such as Tenable Vulnerability Management, Tenable One, and Tenable Cloud Security. The company emphasises that these capabilities offer context-driven prioritisation and response, leveraging extensive data to address threats most effectively.
Gavin Millard, Vice President of product management for Vulnerability Management at Tenable, highlighted the challenges faced by cybersecurity teams dealing with numerous vulnerabilities and threat intelligence data. "Without threat context and research insights, every vulnerability is a priority, creating a high-stress, low-efficiency whack-a-mole scenario for security teams," Millard said. He added that the new features aim to alleviate this by helping teams focus on risks that significantly impact their organisations.
Tenable's research indicates that merely 3% of the identified vulnerabilities lead to substantial exposure. The company claims that its new features will help cut through the noise, enabling security teams to prioritise and address these critical vulnerabilities. The enriched intelligence and contextualisation provided by the new tools are poised to help security professionals quickly understand and mitigate risks.
Over the past two decades, Tenable has gathered and analysed an extensive amount of data, compiling 50 trillion data points on more than 240,000 vulnerabilities. This robust database underpins the new Vulnerability Intelligence feature, which aims to streamline data analysis and provide actionable intelligence to security teams. The accompanying Exposure Response feature offers workflows designed to prioritise asset exposures, monitor remediation efforts, and track security progress.
Millard noted, "Tenable is unleashing more than two decades of carefully curated exposure data to enable security teams to focus on the risk that matters most to their organisation and communicate succinctly to stakeholders." The new capabilities are expected to enhance efficiency in handling vulnerabilities and effectively reduce risks for organisations.
In addition to vulnerability prioritisation, Tenable's new features offer several key capabilities. These include a Threat Landscape Overview, which highlights critical vulnerabilities that require further attention. The Natural Language and Advanced Search functions enable security teams to quickly find specific vulnerabilities, review essential details, and identify affected assets.
The products also feature Campaign-Based Initiatives, which facilitate targeted campaigns and business segment prioritisation. This aims to promote more efficient use of resources and improve security outcomes. Additionally, the Progress Tracking and Advanced Reporting capabilities provide visibility into remediation efforts, helping organisations make data-driven security decisions.
The Vulnerability Intelligence and Exposure Response features are available to customers of Tenable Vulnerability Management and Tenable One, with Vulnerability Intelligence also accessible directly from Tenable Cloud Security. The company believes these innovative tools will empower organisations to protect their assets more effectively in the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape.
