Sophos named Leader in midsize business security by IDC
Global cybersecurity innovator Sophos has achieved the ranking of 'Leader' in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Modern Endpoint Security for Midsize Businesses 2024 Vendor Assessment, which gauges solutions and business strategies of 16 contemporary endpoint security vendors.
Sophos Endpoint caters to more than 300,000 organisations worldwide, providing robust defences against advanced attacks with features including anti-ransomware, anti-exploitation, behavioural analysis, and other technologies. This multi-faceted protection stops threats before they proliferate.
The IDC report particularly commends the company's broad range of standard features within its endpoint offering, such as host-based firewall and IDS/IPS, device control, DLP, and encryption. Furthermore, it appreciates Sophos's robust lineup of features such as the customer security advisory alongside an account health-check feature that helps to detect and remediate security configuration drift.
Additional praise is given for the inclusion of several new capabilities like the adaptive attack protection, critical attack warning, data protection, and recovery, all working to further minimize risk levels.
"We've strategically engineered our products and services to work together and with third-party systems, creating comprehensive, preventive, and highly actionable defences," expressed Rob Harrison, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Sophos. Adding to this, Harrison highlights their commitment to innovation as a foundational means of maintaining a consistent level of protection against tenacious and calculated cybercriminals.
Sophos Intersect X, according to Harrison, continues to gain recognition as an industry-leading defence tool. He attributes this to a renewed focus on thwarting not only current but also anticipated attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures, especially considering the surge in the deployment of remote ransomware that is designed to avoid detection.
IDC's report underlines Sophos' adaptive attack protection as a "disruption of hands-on-keyboard attackers while minimizing potential disruption to legitimate operations". Additionally, it emphasises the need for organisations to prepare for the increasing prevalence of ransomware attacks, by noting the importance of Sophos' ability to recover swiftly from such attacks.
"With their professional and managed security services, expanded product set, and ability to integrate with existing security investments, it's clear that Sophos understands the needs and challenges of a midsize business," said Michael Suby, Research Vice President, Security & Trust, IDC. Suby goes on to applaud Sophos' comprehensive approach from prevention through to recovery, which he believes places Sophos on the shortlist for midsize businesses on the hunt for a dependable and effective security partner.
Part of Sophos's portfolio of solutions are managed on the cloud-native Sophos Central platform. As a constituent of the Sophos Adaptive Cybersecurity Ecosystem, security data is gathered, correlated, and enriched to facilitate automated, synchronized responses to current threats. This platform is further optimized by Sophos X-Ops threat intelligence. This cross-operational task force comprises over 500 security experts, reinforcing Sophos' dedication to stringent cybersecurity provision.
