SecurEyes empowers Bengaluru students with digital safety lessons

Thu, 20th Nov 2025

SecurEyes organised a one-hour cybersecurity awareness session for students at GEAR Innovative International School in Bellandur, Bengaluru. The session aimed to engage students on safe online practices and the risks present in digital environments.

Session format

Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder Karmendra Kohli, along with Technical Manager Mrutyunjay Sahoo, conducted the session. They used real-life examples, live demonstrations, and practical tips to explain cyber threats and protective measures. The agenda focused on raising awareness around cyber hygiene and responsible digital conduct.

Student engagement

Students interacted throughout the session, which included simulated threat scenarios titled Cable of Chaos and The Hidden Risk of USB. These demonstrations illustrated how personal data can be compromised through commonly encountered tactics. The session prompted active participation from students, whose questions continued after the formal presentation ended.

Key advice

The presentation addressed fundamental cybersecurity dos and don'ts, such as safeguarding passwords, recognising scam calls, and suspecting phishing links. Warning signs discussed included callers urging immediate responses, requests for one-time passcodes or transfers using unusual channels, and calls from unknown numbers claiming to be familiar voices.

Speakers recommended families establish pre-agreed codewords to verify identities in case of emergencies. They also advised students to return calls via trusted contact numbers upon receiving suspicious requests. These practices were highlighted as effective ways to reduce risks of social engineering and online fraud.

Building awareness

The initiative is part of SecurEyes' ongoing campaign to build cybersecurity awareness in schools across Bengaluru. The aim is to instil habits of vigilance and informed decision-making in young internet users. The session at GEAR Innovative International School formed part of a series designed to reach students early in their digital journeys.

"That's the world we live in; a digital jungle full of games, friends, fun... and a few hidden dangers too. Today, we'll learn how to be smart digital explorers, not easy targets," said Karmendra Kohli, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, SecurEyes.
