Infosecurity Europe introduces SANS masterclasses 2025

Yesterday

Infosecurity Europe has announced the introduction of new Masterclasses, developed in partnership with SANS Institute, aimed at addressing the skills gaps in cybersecurity.

The Masterclasses will provide cybersecurity professionals with practical training during the Infosecurity Europe event scheduled for 3-5 June 2025 at ExCeL London. The sessions will cover Digital Forensics, Cloud Security, and Security Culture, and will be conducted by SANS-certified instructors.

Infosecurity Europe's collaboration with SANS Institute aims to enhance the educational offerings of the event and help professionals develop tools to handle sophisticated cybersecurity threats. "Partnering with Infosecurity Europe and bringing hands-on masterclasses to this year's event is a pivotal moment to elevate security readiness across the UK and Europe," said John Davis, UK Director of SANS Institute. "This collaboration will support cybersecurity professionals with the practical skills they need to stay ahead of emerging threats. Continuous learning is essential in an industry that evolves at such a rapid pace, and by providing hands-on, immersive experiences, we are ensuring that security practitioners can apply cutting-edge techniques in real-world scenarios to make an immediate impact within their organisations."

The Masterclasses will delve into practical and actionable insights to equip professionals in tackling contemporary cybersecurity challenges. The Digital Forensics Masterclass, conducted by SANS Certified Instructor Kathryn Hedley, will focus on practical experience related to file signatures decoding, data recovery techniques, and forensic disk image exploration. This masterclass is particularly relevant in light of a survey indicating that over half of the organisations are directing more funds towards incident response and forensics.

Simon Vernon, also a SANS Certified Instructor, will lead the Cloud Security Masterclass, responding to the needs of the 65 per cent of cybersecurity leaders planning to increase investment in this area. Participants will engage with advanced cloud security measures, including securing logging setups in Azure and preventing remote code execution.

The Security Culture Masterclass, set for 4 June and led by John Scott, another SANS Certified Instructor, tackles organisational challenges like accountability and communication gaps. Infosecurity Europe's research identified these as significant barriers to a robust cybersecurity culture. The session will include the Cyber42 Game Day simulation to bolster leadership skills amidst real-world decision-making scenarios.

Brad Maule-ffinch, Event Director at Infosecurity Europe, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are thrilled to be partnering with SANS Institute on our new Infosecurity Europe Masterclasses. Delivering high-quality, relevant content that meets the evolving needs of cybersecurity professionals is a core commitment for us, and SANS Institute is the ideal partner to help achieve this. Their dedication to providing practical, actionable insights that attendees can immediately apply to their roles aligns perfectly with our vision for the Masterclasses, making this collaboration a perfect fit."

Marking its 30th anniversary, Infosecurity Europe 2025 will gather experts and practitioners to discuss and find solutions to pressing cybersecurity challenges. This year's agenda also includes keynotes, panel discussions and interactive workshops, in addition to the newly launched Masterclasses.

Spaces for these Masterclasses are limited, and early registration is advised. The fee for participation is GBP £299 plus VAT, which includes lunch.
