Cypago unveils automated tool to streamline cybersecurity management
Thu, 28th Dec 2023

Israeli cybersecurity firm, Cypago, has launched its innovative User Access Review (UAR) product. This fully automated solution for employee account security aims to solve a plethora of issues associated with managing user accounts. Notably, the UAR scans employee user records across the entire tech stack, identifying any gaps or inconsistencies within user accounts and enabling swift rectifications. This resource empowers businesses to streamline access management, proactively combat cyber threats, and enforce a robust security stance.

Addressing threats such as inactive employee accounts, poor separation of duties, and excessive permissions is crucial in the present-day context, as those lapses can leave organisations vulnerable to malicious attacks. In 2023, the average cost of a data breach, as reported by IBM, soared to $4.45 million, a 15% increment over three years. This highlights the need for companies to accentuate cyber protection practices.

According to the same IBM report, incorporating automation has been pivotal in identifying and containing breaches faster, shortening the data breach lifecycle by 108 days compared to firms not utilising such technologies. Coinciding with the publication of The White House's National Cybersecurity Strategy, which prioritises the privacy and security of personal data, Cypago's latest automated security tool is notably timely. It chimes with national policy aspirations and the broader direction of cyber initiatives.

Arik Solomon, CEO at Cypago, commented on the lingering risk posed by forgotten or ownerless user accounts: "There is a very real and yet so often overlooked risk of user accounts, forgotten and ownerless. Besides being a compliance gap, these accounts leave it wide open for criminal actors to take advantage". Solomon furthered, "For companies with a large workforce or high turnover of staff, it is paramount that account security is properly handled. Cypago specialises in SaaS-based cyber GRC automation, and our new User Access Review feature complements our suite of security solutions for monitoring and mitigating risk within an organisation."

The advanced capabilities of Cypago's UAR make it possible to assess and oversee staff termination, leaves, and inactivity, resolving crucial industry issues like orphan and dormant users. This automation provides a respite for risk and security professionals and offers peace of mind. It aids security teams and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) to be proactive in threat management and assure compliance with both regulatory frameworks and internal standards. The UAR empowers users to carry out Segregation of Duties (SoD) and Principle of Least Privilege (PoLP) analyses easily while providing a streamlined task and ticketing resolution process for adjusting permissions. This innovation is a significant step towards overall security resilience, reducing risk, preventing insider threats and data breaches, and keeping alignment with regulatory obligations intact.
