Arctic Wolf has appointed David Hayes and Steve Hunter to senior regional roles in Asia Pacific and Japan, expanding its leadership in a region where it has broadened its footprint.

Hayes becomes Regional Vice President of Sales, Asia Pacific and Japan, and Hunter takes on the role of Regional Vice President of Engineering, Asia Pacific and Japan. They will oversee operations across the region, including the company's growing presence in Japan.

The appointments come as Arctic Wolf continues to build its business in Asia Pacific. It established operations in Australia and New Zealand four years ago and has since expanded into Japan and Singapore, adding customers, partners and staff across the region.

Its Singapore launch in 2025 targeted midmarket organisations in Southeast Asia. That expansion followed the introduction of Aurora Endpoint Security in Japan after Arctic Wolf acquired Cylance from BlackBerry.

Arctic Wolf now serves more than 10,000 customers globally. The company operates in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence and has been growing its presence in markets where businesses are facing a wider range of online threats.

Regional pressure

Organisations across Asia Pacific and Japan are facing mounting security risks, including ransomware, business email compromise and attacks that make greater use of artificial intelligence. That has increased demand for security services and tools as companies seek to strengthen their defences and day-to-day monitoring.

Hayes highlighted the pace of the company's regional expansion in comments accompanying the announcement.

"Looking back, it has been one of the fastest four years of my career," said David Hayes, Regional Vice President of Sales, APJ, Arctic Wolf. "Watching our expansion, market by market and hire by hire, has been one of the best parts of the job. What started as a small team covering Australia and New Zealand has grown into a truly regional business supporting customers and partners across APJ. It is a privilege to work alongside Steve as we enter our next phase of growth."

Hunter pointed to the contribution of staff, customers and partners across the region.

"None of this growth happens without our team across the region, the support of our US leadership team, and the customers and partners who have put their trust in us. As cyber threats continue to evolve, our focus remains on helping organisations achieve better security outcomes through a combination of cutting-edge technology, AI-driven security operations and expert human leadership," said Steve Hunter, Regional Vice President of Engineering, APJ, Arctic Wolf.

The appointments give Arctic Wolf dedicated senior leadership across both sales and engineering in Asia Pacific and Japan as cybersecurity providers compete for a larger share of corporate spending in the region. Japan in particular has become an increasingly important market for international security vendors as businesses and public sector organisations respond to more frequent and complex incidents.

For Arctic Wolf, the hires also reflect a shift from an Australia and New Zealand-focused operation to a broader Asia Pacific business. Its expansion into Singapore and Japan points to a wider push into markets where demand is being shaped by digital transformation, tighter security requirements and concern over cyber resilience.

The latest leadership structure places Hayes and Hunter at the centre of that regional effort as Arctic Wolf continues to add customers and partners across Asia Pacific and Japan.
