Rubrik & Google Cloud partner to boost cyber resilience

Thu, 10th Apr 2025

Rubrik has introduced two announcements designed to aid Google Cloud customers in swift recovery from cyberattacks or operational disruptions.

The company rolled out a new cyber resilient solution in partnership with Google Cloud which includes a cloud-based isolated recovery environment. This collaboration, developed in association with Mandiant, aims to enhance organisational cyber resilience by securing data backups against threats and ensuring efficient replication to Google Cloud through Rubrik's Secure Vault.

Highlighting the importance of comprehensive cyber resilience, Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik, stated, "As organisations increasingly shift their business-critical data to the cloud, they're confronted with new challenges in protecting sensitive information against rapidly evolving cyber threats—challenges their traditional security technologies simply can't address. We aim to empower Google Cloud customers to address these challenges with confidence, enabling them to strengthen their cyber resilience, streamline data protection, optimise backup and recovery processes, and ensure business continuity in the face of any cyber incident."

Stephen Orban, Vice President of Migrations, ISVs, & Marketplace at Google Cloud, added, "For organisations navigating today's complex cyber threat landscape, comprehensive cyber resiliency is non-negotiable. Our collaboration with Rubrik provides customers with the tools and technologies to establish isolated recovery environments on Google Cloud, fortified by the proactive security insights and expertise of Mandiant."

The proposed cyber recovery solutions also aim to strengthen security measures across Google Cloud Engine and Google Cloud SQL. These include new threat-analytics capabilities for anomaly detection, data discovery, and classification. They are designed to detect threats proactively, accelerate incident response and recovery, and maintain the protection and compliance of sensitive data.

Rubrik has also announced the Annapurna initiative which is set to integrate with Google Agentspace to support enterprise AI models. This aims to ensure data retrieval, governance, and protection with Zero Trust security on Google Cloud. Arvind Nithrakashyap, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Rubrik, expressed, "AI is only as powerful as the data behind it, but without strong security and governance, enterprises risk compliance violations and data exposure. With Agentspace, Rubrik Annapurna customers can now recognise the full potential of generative AI, while safely harnessing their enterprise data for AI and maintaining Zero Trust security."

The integration with Agentspace will enable secure AI retrieval, allowing data to be used safely for AI models across enterprise environments. It will also feature zero trust authorisation for policy-based governance, ensuring that only authorised users and AI models can access the data.

Stephen Orban from Google Cloud reinforced the importance of secure data handling for AI advancements, stating, "For AI to deliver real business value, enterprises need secure, well-governed data foundations. With Rubrik Annapurna as a secure data source for Agentspace, organisations can seamlessly and securely access their data within Rubrik to power AI-driven insights while maintaining strong governance and compliance."

Rubrik's advancements with Google Cloud signify a move towards improving data governance and security for businesses heavily relying on cloud technology. This development is expected to play a crucial role for enterprises looking to balance swift AI innovation with robust security measures.
