Proofpoint revamps global partner network for AI era
Proofpoint has rolled out an updated global partner programme, reshaping incentives, protections and routes to market as security spending shifts towards people, data and AI-driven workflows.
The Proofpoint Partner Network introduces a simplified structure and increased investment tied to how customers buy security products and services. It also expands service opportunities for partners building recurring revenue around Proofpoint's portfolio.
Stan de Boisset, Senior Vice President of Global Channels at Proofpoint, said the update responds to changing threats and buying patterns, as attackers increasingly target users and the systems they interact with.
"Partners play a critical role in helping reduce risk, simplify security, and drive measurable outcomes for customers," said Stan de Boisset, Senior Vice President of Global Channels, Proofpoint.
Proofpoint's partner ecosystem includes resellers, service providers and consultancies that source and co-sell opportunities. Many rely on predictable renewal cycles and service attach around security tooling, a model Proofpoint is placing at the centre of the new programme.
Partner economics
The programme is designed to improve partner profitability and predictability. Proofpoint cited a customer renewal rate of more than 90% and said many customer relationships last more than a decade, creating a base for recurring revenue for channel firms.
The updated scheme adds incentives for new customer acquisition and renewals, alongside co-investment through demand generation funds. Proofpoint is also increasing investment in data security, which it described as an area of fast-growing customer spend.
Deal protections also feature prominently. Proofpoint is strengthening protections for partner-sourced and co-sell opportunities, and adding incumbency protection at renewal to reduce the risk of displacement after partners invest in landing an account.
The programme also links to Proofpoint's threat intelligence operations, which draw on trillions of signals each year. Proofpoint said this helps partners differentiate and address new risks linked to AI adoption, including the "agentic workspace" where people and AI systems interact.
Tiers and tools
The Proofpoint Partner Network has three tiers: Select, Elite and Elite+. The tiers reflect partner investment and performance, and are intended to provide clearer paths to benefits and rewards than previous structures.
Middle- and top-tier partners will receive access to NFR licences. These are commonly used for internal testing, demonstrations and staff training, and Proofpoint said they will support hands-on learning and deeper technical expertise.
The programme also expands marketplace routes to market by extending availability through the AWS and Microsoft Azure marketplaces. Proofpoint linked the move to growing demand for cloud procurement and consumption-based buying, particularly as organisations procure security alongside cloud services.
Additional service options are planned over the course of 2026, including health checks and certified deployment offerings. These services typically complement product resale and can add margin for integrators and managed service providers.
Partner reaction
Optiv, a cyber security solutions provider, welcomed the additional protections and investment aimed at higher-tier partners.
"Proofpoint recognises the value partners bring not only in identifying the best opportunities for our clients but turning those opportunities into data-driven success with a shared vision of mutual growth," said John Hurley, CRO, Optiv.
"We're encouraged by the investments Proofpoint is making in top-tier partners across both the front end and the back end of the business, along with the stronger protections that give us confidence," Hurley said.
"Knowing our efforts are trusted and safeguarded makes this a program we can build around," he added.
Proofpoint described its broader market focus as "human- and agent-centric cybersecurity", with an emphasis on securing interactions across email, cloud and collaboration tools. It said it works with large enterprises and smaller organisations, and positioned the programme update as a way to deepen partner-led growth as customers look for security spanning users, data and AI-driven workflows.
"The Proofpoint Partner Network reflects how the market is evolving, built to help our partners win with stronger economics, clearer protections, and the tools they need to build successful, long-term practices around the most trusted human-centric security platform in the market," said de Boisset.
